Cold Water Creek

by Connie Tom on 9/29/2008 7:29:15 PM
Comment on this

This work pictures a view of a cold water creek at sunset. The sun shining on the beautifully colored autumn trees make a stunning contrast to the cool colors of the backdrop of striated rock formations of the bluffs. This work would make a wonderful Christmas gift for your favorite outdoorsman. Enjoy!

"O' Give Me a Home, Where the Buffalo Roam"

This was a hard piece, but I still liked working on it. This was one of my entries which sold at the Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction. I love intricate cloud formations and skies and dramatic lighting. The clouds and sky definitely sets the mood and atmosphere of the painting. Plus I love the wide open spaces and buffalo roaming free. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed painting it. ~ Connie

"The Cowboy"

I still love westerns on television and in the movies. Even the old ones. Our family watched them ever since we were kids. So the image of a cowboy stirs up the emotions of virtues of a hero of a sort. They were the ones saving the day, righting the wrongs, saving damsels in distress, living hard, but dedicated to their work. This cowboy was probably all cleaned up after a dusty trail ride, just sitting by the fire and relaxing and thinking. What is he thinking about? Maybe the hard days work, his love back home, maybe just about life. You decide.... Enjoy!

Reflections of Autumn V

by Connie Tom on 9/5/2008 3:38:06 PM
Comment on this

This work pictures a mid-view of water with two canoeists in a canoe in autumn. Autumn is in full array and it's exciting reds and wonderful colors are being reflected in the water. I thought about putting a horizon line or a ground line in the upper portion of the painting, but decided to leave the whole scene in view of the beautiful autumn reflections in the water. I liked the blurriness of the colorful reflections in the water in contrast to the distinctiveness of the canoeists and the canoe. ~ Enjoy!

Study of a Rim Sitter

Rim sitting has been popular throughout the ages for contemplative purposes. To have time to oneself to sit on the world's most elevated places helps to clear the mind and make problems seem to diminish in the view of such vast and timeless beauty. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it. ~ Connie
