Good Morning on the Lake

Sunrises and sunsets are my very favorite times of the day because they generally have the most dramatic lighting and beautiful colors. I also love to paint water because it reflects those beautiful colors in the sky. There is something about being around the water... whether it's oceans, lakes, streams or rivers that just takes you away from the everyday busyness of life. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it.

Sundown on the Rio Grande

Sundown on the Rio Grande

"SUNDOWN ON THE RIO GRANDE" is a  work of color and light, mood and atmosphere. This work pictures a view of the Rio Grande River at sundown. The colors are very romantic...reminding us of those skies where the cowboy rides off into the sunset. This clouds and sky are vibrant with colors and compliments the western flair. The sun and sky colors are softly reflected on the water.

COLORS

The music of the eyes

In his journals, Delacroix said that colors are "the music of the eyes," that they "combine like sounds" that create harmonies rivaling those produced by the great composers with great orchestras. In fact, he says: "Certain color harmonies produce sensations that even music cannot achieve." This artist tries hard to produce color harmonies that create positive and uplifting sensations.

Sunrise for the Soul

Sunrise for the Soul!

"Sunrise for the Soul!"

 20" x 30"

 Oil on canvas

 by Connie Tom

This painting is a scene from South Carolina’s Hunting Island State Park which covers 5,000 acres of pristine salt marsh, beach and maritime forest. I loved the contrast of the complementery colors of the deep reds and oranges in the sky against the light greens in the grasses. And of course I always love sunrises and sunsets. To me, they are both sunshine for the soul!

This lucky fisherman feels so blessed when he is getting to do what he loves to do on his days away from work. The sounds of the rapids going by him seem to wash all his troubles away... at least for these happy moments. ~ Enjoy!

So Glad You Came

So Glad You Came

"So Glad You Came" is an original oil painting by Connie Tom. This lady is standing under the autumn trees here to meet someone. She is smiling and looking to the right. Clearly, who ever she's hoping to spend time with has arrived. I leave it to the viewer to finish the story. Who is she greeting? Is it a lover? a friend? a sister? I'll let you finish the story....

This painting is now available for purchase from this website. See Connie's work featured in the September 2012 issue of Western Art Collector Magazine.
